Posting Guidelines

Updating the Featured sections on the homepage

  • Log in
  • Click on Appearance in the sidebar of the administration dashboard
  • Find the sections labeled “Setup Featured Slider” – there are four of them available. Update the information
  • Back at the top of the page, click Save Changes
  • If you’re embedding a video into the slider, change the dimensions of the video to 250 high by 500 wide to make it look right.
  • There is already a “Featured Video” image uploaded onto the site, just copy and paste the following location of the image into the “thumbnail” box: /wp-content/themes/dust/styles/solid-red/featured-video.png

Important! Don’t change anything else on the Theme Settings page!


Posting new content

  • Log in
  • Click on Posts >> Add Post on the sidebar, or New Post on the top right
  • Write your post
  • Choose the correct Category (mandatory) (You can select multiple categories if appropriate)
  • If there isn’t a category that is appropriate, create a new one
  • Enter some Tags (optional)
  • Click Preview Changes in the right-hand sidebar
  • If you like it, click Publish
  • All new posts show up on the homepage, but you can control where else your post appears on the site by using categories: Use the category News and it will show up on the News page. Use the category Photos or Videos to put the post on the photos or videos page.
  • It’s also advised to enter some tags for your post. This site doesn’t use tags in it’s design, but the tags you enter will automatically be submitted to search engines as keywords for the post, which will help people find the website.
  • If your post is long, you may want to consider using the “Read More” option in your post, because the homepage always displays the latest posts and one long post could take up a lot of room, pushing everything else far down the screen.

Making a photo gallery

  • Make a new post
  • Make sure to click the Photos checkbox in the Categories section
  • Type in a new photo album name on the right side in the DM Albums box
  • Click Browse and choose the photos you’d like to upload
  • Click Start Upload
  • After the photos are finished uploading, put the cursor at the place in the post where you want the photo gallery to appear, and click Insert in the DM Albums box
  • Click Preview Changes in the right-hand sidebar
  • If you like it, click Publish

Adding a video

Editing a Page

  • Log in
  • Click on Pages in the sidebar
  • Click on the title of the page you want to edit
  • Edit the page to your liking
  • Click Preview Changes on the right-hand sidebar
  • When you’re satisfied with your changes, click Update
